Jaguarundi

For felid Friday we have a jaguarundi from the Atlantic Forest in Rio Grande do Sul. Jaguarundis are distributed from Texas south to Argentina and Uruguay, occupying virtually every single neotropical country. The jaguarundi forms a completely separate lineage from the spotted Neotropical cats. Instead the jaguarundi shares the Puma lineage with the Puma (Puma concolor) and the Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus).
