Six-banded armadillo

We are back from the field. Here is a six-banded armadillo (also known as the yellow armadillo) from the Caatinga in Paraíba. This species is the sole extant member of the genus Euphractus. It has a wide distribution in the open areas of Eastern South America, ranging from Suriname south to Uruguay. They are classified as Least Concerned by the IUCN
